YO8 is best understood through the places named in its coverage: Barlby, Brayton, Bubwith and nearby places such as Cawood, set within the wider context of York. That spread across Barlby, Brayton and other named localities makes YO8 useful for identifying a precise part of York.

For YO8, the local setting is important: York's historic walls, Minster, railway links and visitor economy give the district a distinctive North Yorkshire identity.

By company count, YO8 sits around the middle of the national spread, ranked 838th out of 3,113 districts with 2,144 companies as of June 2026. Companies House records linked to YO8 provide a business-focused view of this district alongside its local geography. For YO8, the company count is best read alongside the named places rather than as a claim about how businesses operate.

Below are just a small sample of the companies formed (with the numeric parts of the address redacted with an X and not showing the postcode, so we are not advertising peoples full addresses online) but allows you to see where some of the companies have been formed.
