Deciding to start your own business is one of the most major decisions you will make in your life. Be prepared for the hard work it entails. Family and social life will be put on the back burner for a while. That said you will be your own boss, responsible for making all of the business decisions. With carefull planning you could have the ability to run a very sucessful and hopefully profitable business.
There is nothing more daunting than planning to start your own business and at first your resources are going to be fairly limited. Use whatever ‘free’ resources are available to you. ie Free Training Courses, Free Business Banking etc.
Whatever business you decide to embark upon it is important to remember that business planning, Market Research etc should not just be one off activities. They should be continuous – and monitored at all times. Set yourself targets to aim for, and when reached set slightly harder ones.
First and foremost you need to make the decision of exactly what business you want to embark upon. Identifying what particular strengths and weaknesses you have will, to some extent, ascertain in which direction you are going to take your business. Are you going to operate as a Sole Trader, or a Limited Company? How are you going to conduct your Market Research? Is there an opening in the market for the kind of product or service you have to offer?
